The Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC) hosts and organises one of the oldest regatta in Asia, the Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR) on a yearly base. The RMSIR took root in 1989 and is the brain child of the, then, Raja Muda (crown prince) of Selangor. Being a keen sailor and member of the club, it was his idea to start a regatta for the all boats passing by the club, going on to Thailand for the Kings Cup regatta.
The race covers 4 locations in a span of 10 days, covering 260 miles. It is one regatta that is not only challenging but also fun as the sailors get to stop off at various locations to explore and experience the local culture.

Since 2013, building and organising the RMSIR guide book has become a yearly affair. Being a keen sailor has given me an insight to organising the guide book, plus knowing the members and usual racers gives an added advantage to designing the guidebook and understanding what are the key information they need seen as soon as they turn to the page.
Keeping the guide book to a large format (the previous guide books were in A5 size) made berthing maps as well as in shore races maps easier to see and read. |
